Tom, an 8-year-old boy living on a farm in the French countryside, stumbles upon a mysterious relic in the barn. The moment he touches it, he's shrunk down to just 10 inches tall! As he tries to figure out what's happened, he discovers he can understand and speak to animals. When a stork named Storki lands nearby and nearly scoops him up, Tom talks to him-and learns that Storki is on his annual migration to Africa.
With no way to explain his shrinking to his family, Tom bravely decides to go on an adventure. He hops on Storki's back and soars into the sky, waving goodbye to the farm and all his animal friends. Along the way, Tom learns about the migration journey, meets other storks (including the wise leader The Boss), and faces challenges in the skies like storms and predator birds.
Together, Tom and Storki form a unique friendship. Tom's small size helps the flock in surprising ways, and he learns about teamwork, courage, and the natural world. They rest in beautiful places, meet fascinating animals, and finally reach the warm lands of Africa.
The story ends with Tom wondering how long his tiny adventure will last... and what other surprises the relic might bring.
