To Secure These Rights is a historical book that delves into the report of the President's Committee on Civil Rights, which was published in 1947. The report was a landmark document that highlighted the racial inequalities and injustices faced by African Americans in the United States. The book is authored by Charles Erwin Wilson, who was a member of the committee and played a crucial role in drafting the report. The book provides a comprehensive and detailed account of the report's findings and recommendations, which included the need for federal legislation to end segregation and discrimination in all areas of American life. The report also called for the establishment of a permanent Civil Rights Commission to monitor and enforce civil rights laws. The book contextualizes the report within the broader civil rights movement of the 1940s and 1950s, and provides insights into the political and social climate of the time. It highlights the challenges faced by the committee in conducting its investigations and the resistance it encountered from some quarters. To Secure These Rights is an important historical document that sheds light on the struggles and achievements of the civil rights movement in the United States. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of civil rights and social justice in America. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
