To Let is the third and final novel in the Forsyte Saga trilogy by John Galsworthy. It was published in 1921 and follows the lives of the wealthy Forsyte family in early 20th century England. The novel picks up where the second novel, In Chancery, left off, with the death of Soames Forsyte's second wife, Annette. Soames is now a lonely and bitter man, and his daughter Fleur is struggling with her own romantic troubles. Meanwhile, the younger generation of Forsytes, including Jon and Dinny, are trying to find their place in the world and navigate the changing social and political landscape of the time. The novel explores themes of love, marriage, family, and class, and provides a sweeping portrait of English society during the early 1900s.Sipping weak tea with lemon in it, Jolyon gazed through the leaves of the old oak-tree at that view which had appeared to him desirable for thirty-two years. The tree beneath which he sat seemed not a day older! So young, the little leaves of brownish gold; so old, the whitey-grey-green of its thick rough trunk, A tree of memories, which would live on hundreds of years yet, unless some barbarian cut it down--would see old England out at the pace things were going! This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
