To Leeward is a novel written by F. Marion Crawford, first published in 1901. The story revolves around the life of a young Englishman named Hector Ratcliffe who inherits a plantation in the West Indies. He travels to the island of San Juan to take possession of his inheritance, but he soon discovers that the plantation is in a state of disrepair and the local community is hostile towards him. Hector meets and falls in love with a young woman named Do�����a Isabel, who is the daughter of the former owner of the plantation. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Isabel is engaged to another man, and Hector's presence on the island is seen as a threat to the community. As Hector tries to rebuild the plantation, he faces numerous challenges, including a hurricane that destroys much of the property. He also has to deal with the machinations of his rival, Don Juan de Dios, who is determined to drive him off the island. To Leeward is a gripping tale of love, betrayal, and survival set against the backdrop of the lush Caribbean landscape. It explores themes of colonialism, race, and class, and offers a vivid portrayal of life in the West Indies at the turn of the 20th century.1883. With frontispiece. F. He wrote over forty novels, most of which were in the style of disposable romances popular at the time.
