There are, of course, numerous excellent works on the History of Israel. Given the sheer quantity, it would no longer be justified to waste time producing yet another work on this subject. Moreover, with the decline of the written word, writing seems to have become an activity that is confused with a waste of time. I therefore fight against time and against its loss, believing that the meaning of writing is realized in the reader's gaze. There is a central orientation in the History of Israel that is now presented. The story that is told is filled with the confessed intention of promoting assistance in reading the Bible. In this sense, we ask the reader for patience because, first, we put up the building's foundations before we begin construction. Well-placed foundations mean giving way to the geographical, political and other contextual issues of the time. These foundations of the building require illustrations. At the beginning we thought that a suitable title for this work would be Illustrated History of Israel. But, it was not possible to proceed in this way because illustrations are not the objective that we intend to achieve. Illustrations aim to be what they are, illuminations for the journey, nothing more. We intend to address, in a simple, direct, and didactic way, the movements of history that can be understood by the reader. This is, of course, if it is possible to write a history of Israel, since the most recent research calls into question the entire biblical account. For the most advanced and erudite contemporary biblical and archaeological research, words such as invention, creative imagination, textual creation, and fantasy are used. Such words may present difficulties for those who are not accustomed to the historical-critical world. This work was written primarily for those who want to understand and comprehend the Bible, with the greatest possible clarity and didacticism.
