Never underestimate the power of a boy and his dog. Throne to the Dogs is the coming of age story of a young, fatherless boy named Jake and his poor, rural family. After moving onto the Sand Road, Jake discovers a neighborhood full of colorful characters, a school bus overwhelmed with bullies and a school system that he has difficulty fitting into. Just when things seem to be at their worst, Jake finds his life's prospects take a turn for the better when Sam, a mixed breed mutt that nobody else wants, is adopted by his family.Set during 1967-68, Throne to the Dogs is suitable for young readers aged 14 and up. It teaches many honorable principles such as honesty, loyalty and trust.
