Arsen.--Chronic inflammation, with dryness of the throat; sour stomach; bloated feeling in the stomach. or abdomen. TONSILLITIS. Symptoms.--Chill; fever; general weakness; sorenessand pain in the throat, with frequent swallowing of saliva. The tonsils may be seen, like almonds, on each side of the throat. The inflammation may result in the formation of pus in one or both of the tonsils. The discharge is usually a good indication of approaching recovery. Causes.--The same as in Pharyngitis. One attack seems to predispose the system to others. Treatment.--Aeon.--High fever. Bell.--Dryness of the throat, with a deep red color. Merc. iod. rub.--Great swelling of the tonsils; a white or yellow coated tongue. Arsen.--Slow recovery after suppuration; dryness of the mouth and throat. LARYNGITIS. Symptoms.--Loss of voice; tickling sensation in the larynx. Causes.--Same as Pharyngitis; also, improper use of the voice. Treatment.--Make no attempt to use the voice till the inflammation has subsided. Public speakers should avoid a prolonged use of the same pitch of voice. Phos. is the remedy. In some chronic cases, Hepar sulphuris cakareum, sixth decimal trit., will afford great relief. INFLAMMATION OF THE UTERUS. Symptoms.--There is, in acute cases, some fever, but in chronic cases, there is scarcely any. There is usually some pain, or burning and soreness, in the organ; pain in the back and groin during stool; pain in the rectum, extending forwards; discharge of a thick, cheesy, or creamy substance, sometimes mixed with blood. In. chronic cases, the patient becomes nervous, and is subject to Neuralgia and Hysteria. In acute inflammation, rest alone is almost sufficient to effect a cure, in...
