Stefan Gibson is a visionary but struggling playwright obsessed with forgotten masterpieces. When he purchases the abandoned Grand Lyceum Theater, he sees an opportunity to revive both the crumbling Victorian landmark and his failing career.
The Lyceum has stood empty since October 14, 1924, when a mysterious fire erupted during a performance of The Gilded Cage, killing the entire cast. The tragedy became legend. The play itself vanished.
Convinced that The Gilded Cage was a lost work of genius, Stefan dedicates himself to restoring the theater and reconstructing the unfinished production. But as rehearsals begin, strange events plague the company. Actors hear voices in empty dressing rooms. Figures appear in the auditorium after dark. Forgotten memories surface from people long dead.
As Stefan uncovers hidden journals, lost police records, and a secret confession concealed within the theater's walls, he learns the horrifying truth behind the 1924 fire. The disaster was no accident. It was part of a ritual orchestrated by the theater's director, Otto Grefe, who believed true art could only achieve immortality through sacrifice.
Now the dead cast still performs somewhere beyond reality, trapped in an endless production for an audience that never leaves.
And by resurrecting The Gilded Cage, Stefan has reopened the curtain.
