Featuring Heavyweight Boxing Champion Tommy Burns, alongside wrestlers F. S. Lewis and William V. Gregory - it details a holistic programme of using combat sports for self-protection.
Shot in the street clothes of the era (1906) it lays out attacks and defences against armed, unarmed and multiple attackers. It takes an extremely realistic view for its time and also stresses the importance of physical fitness and mental preparation.
The guide also contains snippets and adverts of Prof Lewis' wider work on physical culture, breath control, diet and medicinal supplements - all way ahead of the combat sports curve.
