The Earth is dying, and NÃhÃni'á has chosen to act.
The story begins in two worlds that have always been one:
Unknown to him, far away in Los Alamos, his nephew Dr. Connor Chee is staring at similar patterns on a lab screen. Connor is a gifted neurochemist, Diné by birth and scientist by vocation, forever walking between worlds. He follows data; his uncle follows ceremony. What neither yet understands is that both are tracking the same intelligence.
When Rez, a stray dog, shows up at Jimmie's home, he becomes the hogan for NÃhÃni'á-a living shelter for a non-human consciousness-the story pivots fully into Diné cosmology. Through Rez, NÃhÃni'á begins speaking in Diné, not as a god, but as a guardian presence awakened by the Earth's suffering. Telepathic connections spark between Jimmie, Carmelita, and Connor, linking traditional knowledge and cutting-edge science in ways that neither side can easily explain or dismiss.
From the mesas and canyons of Diné Bikéyah to the secure conference rooms of Los Alamos and Washington D.C., a loose alliance emerges: The Council of Seven-Diné elders, scientists, policy makers, and spiritual leaders, become the impetus for change. Some see NÃhÃni'á as a manifestation of the Holy People, others as quantum life, others as a potential weapon.
The narrative ranges from canyon ceremonies and visions to MRI labs and international summits, and into the fifth and higher dimensions where NÃhÃni'á reveals that evolution is not only biological but spiritual and relational. Humanity is being tested: can it relearn hózhǫ́-right relationship with land, water, air, and each other-or will it cling to extractive habits until the planet forces a harsher correction?
