The book is a collection of sermons and meditations on the theme of thanksgiving, specifically in response to the withdrawal of a pestilence or epidemic. Cumming explores the idea of gratitude and thankfulness to God for sparing individuals and communities from the devastation of disease. He draws on biblical passages and historical examples to illustrate the importance of recognizing God's mercy and grace in times of crisis.
