The Testament of Levi, Volume 1 is the first chapter in a landmark graphic novel series that brings the ancient Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs to life in cinematic, large format artwork. Faithful to the original text, this volume opens with Levi ben Jacob, son of the patriarch Jacob, speaking to his assembled sons in the final days of his life. Born in Haran and raised in the household of Israel, Levi recounts the defining events of his youth: his journey with his father to the land of Shekem, the events surrounding his sister Dinah, and the divine vision that would change everything.
At the heart of Volume 1 is Levi's heavenly ascent, one of the most extraordinary passages in all of ancient Israelite literature. Guided by an angel, Levi passes through the heavens themselves, witnessing realms of light and glory that no mortal eye had seen, until he stands in the presence of Yahowah and receives the sacred charge to serve as priest over Israel and to declare the divine mysteries unto men. It is a calling that will define his descendants for generations to come.
Every page is rendered in vivid, photorealistic artwork that places the reader in the ancient world alongside Levi, from the torchlit scroll chambers of his fathers to the crystalline courts of heaven.
