Teddy is a picture book aimed at children 4-7 years of age, although it could equally be suitable for a younger audience due to the colorful illustrations and simple text. Teddy is the hero of the story and it is told through his eyes. He's not just an ordinary pet, however. He's a guide dog. As such, he's a working dog. Vision-impaired people play with their pets, have normal home lives and go to work. I believe that children would find it fascinating to learn about a guide dog helping a person in their daily life and find out exactly what they do - and the commands they have to learn. When Teddy is not working, he romps and plays with the other humans and animals in the household, just as any pet would. Not only that, Teddy has to go to 'school' to learn how to do his job.
