To cease a man's independence, privacy and self-respect is a heinous crime. Such heartless barbaric clans did exist in this world and were predominantly from the European countries. The beginning of the 16th century has a recorded history of human slavery which lasted through the 19th century. These European countries invaded other countries and established their colonies. They swindled the riches of these nations for their own personal gains. And they did not stop there, they subjugated the local population to enormous misery and hardship. They were ill-treated into submission by force and torture.
One such classic character was Oroonoko. The colonizers extracted favours from him only to torture him and put him to death. The pathetic life of Oroonoko was seen by Aphra Behn, who recorded the happenings in the form of a novel. This poetry book rendered in the Tamil language, depicts the heartwrenching story of Oroonoko, which would stir readers and inspire them to rise up against injustice.
