Tales of Ossian is a collection of epic poems and tales written by Scottish poet James MacPherson in 1760. The poems are based on the legendary Irish hero Ossian, son of the warrior Fingal, and his adventures in ancient Scotland and Ireland. The book was published in 1822, and includes the famous poem Fingal as well as other works such as Temora and The Battle of Lora. MacPherson claimed that the poems were based on ancient Gaelic manuscripts, but their authenticity has been widely debated.
