This book tells the story of Tal Chhapar wildlife sanctuary. It is a bright, golden patch of grass in the dry heart of the Thar desert. Most of Rajasthan's Churu district is arid and empty. The star of the show is the Blackbuck. People call him the Black Prince of the Desert. These antelopes have spiralling horns and can jump high into the air. Thousands of them live in the sanctuary.They run across fields of golden Mothiya grass. This sight is a dream for any photographer. It looks best when the amber light of a desert sunset hits their dark shapes.
The sanctuary offers more than just antelopes. The sky changes as the seasons turn. Bird watchers from all over the world come here to see raptors. These large birds of prey circle the skies in search of food. The book shows the variety of these majestic flyers.
Keeping this place alive is a fight. The author writes about the struggle against invasive plants that crowd out native grass. He explains how the Khejri trees stay strong in the heat.
These trees provide shade and food. The sanctuary is a small piece of savanna. It shows how nature survives against the odds.
