Surgundo is a historical novel written by Thomas G. Stevenson and first published in 1837. The story is set in the early 16th century and follows the adventures of a young man named Surgundo as he travels from his homeland of Scotland to the court of King Henry VIII in England. Along the way, Surgundo encounters a variety of characters, including pirates, nobles, and members of the royal court. As Surgundo navigates the treacherous waters of court intrigue, he also finds himself embroiled in a love triangle with two women: the beautiful Lady Catherine, who is betrothed to a powerful nobleman, and the fiery-tempered Lady Margaret, who is determined to win Surgundo's heart. As he struggles to balance his love for these two women with his duty to the king, Surgundo must also navigate the dangerous political climate of the Tudor court, where alliances can shift in an instant and one wrong move can lead to ruin. With its vivid descriptions of life in 16th-century England and its complex characters and plotlines, Surgundo is a gripping tale of love, loyalty, and political intrigue that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
