A heart-warming novel for mature teenagers and young adults about trying to ride the rocky waves of life, and fitting in. After a devastating family incident nearly destroys her, sixteen year old competitive swimmer, Jaimee, finds her life, and her Olympic dreams shattered when she's forced to move from the sundrenched beaches of Noosa to her grandparent's house in a cold and dreary surfing village, one thousand miles away.
Trying to adjust to her newfound situation and living in a town full of self-important surf heads, life is made even more unbearable by Ivy, the girl next door, who still holds a yearlong grudge against Jamiee for reasons she doesn't understand.
Starting a new school is hard enough, but having Ivy spread rumors about her definitely does not help Jaimee find friends quickly. Fitting in becomes a nightmare as Jaimee tries to overcome the bad reputation Ivy has created for her, while also navigating her new life and the teenage dramas that follow. Although initially horrified at the thought of spending time in the brutal, shark infested waters, spending time by the ocean helps Jaimee realize she's not the only one in this small town with problems. Even the coolest kids have dark secrets of their own, and that might just be the ticket to helping Jaimee finally fit in.
