Nothing can come between a boy and his dog; sometimes, not even death.
Ever since the day Sunny came back from the beyond, Joel's noticed a few troubling changes in his old dog: her beautiful blonde coat has fallen out; her once witless smile now bears elongated needles for teeth; and her eyes-twin swirling vortexes, like portals to another realm . . . But if that's not Sunny, who-or what-is it?
It's not until he meets a young male witch (NOT a warlock), who claims they share a connection, that Joel begins to realize he may be a pawn within a larger, more eternal, scheme. To find the truth, he must first reconcile not only with the mysterious Fontaine's likely selfish ambitions, but also the looming memory of his own mother, the cult she founded consisting of people blinded in an eclipse, and his own proclivity to creep out any woman who unfortunately finds herself within staring distance. Poor Joel, he just wants love-and if he can't learn to love himself, could he find it with whatever the hell his cute little dog has become? Does anyone smell sulfur?
SUNNY is a madcap, terrifying ride accompanied by a kaleidoscopic cast of freaks and weirdos: men's rights activists, witches, podcast hosts and influencers, ghost hunters and aging men in middle management; seeking to examine just what could have possibly occurred to make such a nice young man behave in such a way, or to go and do such a thing? Answers, of sorts, lie within.
