This novel won the French Mensa award for best first book, in its original French version, ne m'écris plus. Here's the plot: Have you ever felt a nagging sense that you are not the master of your own fate? That you are a hapless marionette whose strings drag you in directions you don't want to go?Meet Alex, a 32-year-old microbiology researcher. A solitary dreamer with a gentle soul, Alex watches his own life unfold before him with incredulity and consternation. If you are a character in a novel, what possible escape can there be for you, when the author who writes you seems to delight in steering you into heartbreak, making you act the fool, and constantly bedeviling you with a dark swirl of complications that hover above you like your own personal storm cloud?Jerked around by a young novelist who clearly has scores to settle with the male population, will Alexander inevitably descend, despite his own best efforts, down the path to his own undoing, or will he one day find happiness?
