'Stomach Daisies' continues where 'Portrayal' left off, with the author immersed in the possibilities of love and desire. This book is divided into four sections to help her reader's follow a journey that takes some unexpected paths. The first section is full of whimsy and desire, a time when good felt really good. But life doesn't always make even the good times easy to hold. In the second section she closes off a bit from personal pain, instead channeling her frustration externally, writing with a sharp tongue and self-loathing heart. The third brings the author's emotions back into focus, allowing for more internal exploration and awareness. She discovers self-pity only works for so long and the real work is still waiting to be done. Finally, she settles back into a space of her own, where she invites hope and tenderness to return. The author writes of nature and desire, in a softer voice, but with a stronger sense of her own abilities. Each piece stands on its own but together her poems also connect to form a greater story of love, heartache and revival.
