After a lifetime of caring for others, will she finally get to become the mother she was meant to be?
When Tessa Bloom married the love of her life, she agreed to one thing she never thought would matter-a child free life. For decades, her husband's steady devotion was enough. Until the day it wasn't. After losing him to illness, the silence he left behind isn't peaceful-it's hollow. Now in her late forties, Tessa finds herself aching for a family she thought she'd made peace without.
Her plan is simple: adopt a child, build a new beginning, and fill her home with laughter again. But adoption agencies don't see mothers in their forties-they see risks. Hope comes unexpectedly through a new student in her yoga class: a Child Protective Services agent who knows a pregnant teen in need of a safe place to stay.
Tessa opens her door-and her heart-but love has a way of complicating even the purest intentions. Especially when she begins to fall for the agent's ex-husband; a devoted father doing his best to hold his fractured family together.
But when the CPS agent who connected her to the teen mother discovers that Tessa and her ex-husband have found comfort in each other-and that her own children are beginning to see Tessa as home-the peace Tessa's fought so hard to protect threatens to unravel. Now Tessa must decide what she's truly ready for: the simplicity of single parenthood, or the beautiful, messy chaos of building a family from the broken pieces of her heart.
Poignant, romantic, and full of second chances, Still Healing is a story for every woman who's ever wondered if her time has passed. Because sometimes, the heart's deepest longing isn't behind us-it's what we're brave enough to reach for next.
