Mia thought she would have figured it out by now.
The career. The friendships. The marriage. The home. The certainty that she was moving in the right direction.
Instead, she finds herself staring at a life that looks perfectly fine from the outside and wondering why it no longer feels like enough.
She has a family she loves, a long-term relationship with a good man, and a job that pays the bills. Nothing is dramatically wrong. And perhaps that's what makes admitting the truth so difficult.
Mia feels lost.
As she watches everyone around her seemingly move forward, questions she has spent years avoiding become harder to ignore. Is she waiting too long for the life she wants? Has she mistaken being comfortable for being happy? And somewhere between losing old friendships and becoming very good at being alone, when did solitude turn into loneliness?
With the unexpected beginning of a new friendship, complicated conversations with the people she loves, and one small decision that could lead her somewhere new, Mia begins to discover that finding yourself doesn't always require changing your entire life.
Sometimes it starts with finally admitting that you want more.
Set in Cape Town, Somewhere Between Here and There is a warm, reflective contemporary novel about friendship, family, grief, love, loneliness, and the uncomfortable space between the life you imagined and the life you're actually living.
For anyone who has ever looked at a perfectly ordinary life and quietly wondered, Is this really it?
