Amber's trip to the Swiss Alps was meant to be a new beginning. Hot on the trail of answers about the magical world she's been thrown into, Amber journeys to meet B, a friend of Ms. Avery, who may hold answers-or have secrets of his own.

The Swiss town of Neblig has all the charm of a fairytale as it prepares for Chalandamarz, a celebration of the coming of spring. Amber's ready to enjoy the picturesque waterfalls, the bells echoing through the cobblestone streets, and the thawing beauty of the centerpiece of the town: its fountain.

When a body stains the fountain's clear water red, Amber once again finds herself chasing clues under a cloud of suspicion. She can't help feeling like she's stuck in the past-and not just her recent past in Coldwater. To get to the bottom of this, she'll have to examine the only mystery she doesn't know how to solve: herself.
