Sir Gentleman
What can happen when a ten-year-old picks up a pencil and lets her imagination take over?
Sir Gentleman was written and illustrated by Addison Ezell when she was just ten years old. Beginning with a simple idea, a pencil, and a wonderfully creative imagination, Addison introduces readers to Sir Gentleman-a top-hat-wearing capybara who loves his friends, fruit, books, swimming, and, most importantly, making new friends.
But Sir Gentleman's adventure doesn't end when Addison's story does.
After meeting Sir Gentleman and some of his friends, young readers are invited to pick up a pencil and become authors and illustrators themselves. Who should Sir Gentleman meet next? Where should they go? What happens on their adventure? Children can draw, write, imagine, and create their own continuation of the story-and then begin a story that is completely their own.
With Addison's original childhood drawings and handwriting at its heart, Sir Gentleman celebrates creativity in its most genuine form and reminds young readers that stories don't have to begin with perfect words or polished pictures. They can begin with something as simple as a pencil and an idea.
Every author has a first story.
This is Addison's.
Maybe the next one is yours.
