Shreds from an Old Sun Helmet is a book by Walter Goldstein that is a collection of his personal essays and reflections on his experiences as a journalist and traveler. The book is divided into three sections, each focusing on a different period of his life. The first section covers his time as a correspondent in Asia during the 1950s and 1960s, where he witnessed the aftermath of the Korean War and the rise of communism in China. The second section covers his travels in Europe during the 1970s and 1980s, where he explored the continent's rich history and culture. The final section covers his later years, where he reflects on his life and career as a journalist. Throughout the book, Goldstein provides vivid descriptions of the people and places he encountered, as well as his own personal insights and reflections on the world around him.
