The aim of SEARCH THE WORD STUDY MANUAL, Vol. I, is to motivate God's people to become interested in His word, by spending time searching the Scriptures in order to have a deeper relationship with Him. Sometimes people attend a church for years, but still do not know what they believe. In fact, there are people who cannot give even a reasonable description of why Jesus came to earth other than He died on the Cross. Most only attend church because their parents belonged to that particular assembly, but they themselves do not know what they believe. We will also find people who only attend on special occasions such as weddings, funerals, Easter, and Christmas. Another group believes that living a good life, will take them to heaven and only bad people go to hell. Others believe that death is the end of all things, and there is no heaven or hell. The Scriptures show that it goes much deeper than mere understanding that God is real, and that one will either go to heaven or hell. The truth is that each person must have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ to talk about Him or even to love Him. It is through knowing Jesus that we will be able to know God. Therefore, study of God's word is vital to the life of every believer since it is through His word we learn about Him. Each person must spend quality time to study and learn about the Christian faith and what it entails. It is not enough just to attend church; the individual must seek to have an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and this comes only through His word and the indwelling Holy Spirit. God's word is the expression of His character. It reveals His love towards mankind, and His concern for our welfare.
