Scenes From Dickens For Drawing-room And Platform Acting presents a collection of dramatic adaptations derived from the works of Charles Dickens. Compiled and arranged by Ernest Guy Pertwee, this anthology is designed for amateur actors and elocutionists seeking engaging material for performance. The selected scenes capture the wit, pathos, and social commentary characteristic of Dickens's writing.
Offering excerpts from beloved novels such as A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, and David Copperfield, the book provides a range of characters and situations suitable for diverse acting styles. Pertwee's editorial notes offer practical guidance for staging and delivery, enhancing the collection's utility for both drawing-room entertainment and public recitals. First published in 1911, this volume revives a tradition of adapting literary classics for the stage, ensuring Dickens's enduring popularity among performers and audiences alike.
