Saltglass is a quiet coastal ghost story set on the seafront between Tynemouth Castle and Whitley Bay.
After winter storms strip the sands, museum volunteer Hannah Ward catalogs finds from the Black Middens and logs a small shard of green sea glass, drilled for a cord and scratched with two letters. The shard will not stay shelved. Damp lines appear on the inside of windows. Counts are heard at the Battery rail: one, two, three, four... and stop.
Old papers from the Watch House and a chapel in Blyth show what was missed in 1895 when a launch brought men in from the river mouth-five named, one boy left off. To put the record straight, Hannah's family and the Watch House must find the name and speak it where it belongs.
No spectacle. No tricks. Just place, paper, and the work of saying a name in the right spot so the count can close.
