Symmes's Theory of Concentric Spheres is a book written by an anonymous author, identified only as A Citizen of the United States, in 1826. The book presents the theory that the Earth is not a solid sphere, but rather a series of concentric spheres with openings at the poles that lead to a hollow interior. According to the author, this hollow interior is not only habitable, but also contains a sun and other celestial bodies. The book is divided into three parts. The first part presents the author's theory of concentric spheres, providing detailed descriptions of their size, shape, and composition. The second part discusses the evidence for this theory, including observations of the aurora borealis and other natural phenomena. The third part explores the implications of the theory, including the possibility of accessing the hollow interior and the potential benefits of doing so.Symmes's Theory of Concentric Spheres was a popular work in its time, attracting the attention of scientists, explorers, and the general public. While the theory has since been discredited by modern science, the book remains an interesting historical artifact and a testament to the human imagination. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
