Sybil Or The Two Nations is a novel written by Benjamin Disraeli, a British politician and writer, and first published in 1845. The book is set in the early 19th century and tells the story of two different social classes in England, the wealthy and the poor, and the stark contrast between their lives. The main character, Sybil Gerard, is a young woman from a poor family who becomes involved in the Chartist movement, which advocated for political and social reforms for the working class. Along the way, she meets Charles Egremont, a wealthy aristocrat who becomes sympathetic to the cause of the poor. The novel explores themes of social inequality, political corruption, and the struggle for social justice. Disraeli's writing style is characterized by vivid descriptions of the characters and their surroundings, as well as his use of satire and irony to critique the social and political system of his time. Sybil Or The Two Nations is considered a classic of Victorian literature and an important work in the history of social and political thought.Notwithstanding the confidence of Lady St Julians, and her unrivalled information, the health of the king did not improve: but still it was the hay fever, only the hay fever. An admission had been allowed to creep into the Court Circular, that his majesty has been slightly indisposed within the last few days; but then it was soon followed by a very positive assurance, that his majesty's favourite and long-matured resolution to give a state banquet to the knights of the four orders, was immediately to be carried into effect. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
