This book argues that adopting a decolonial approach to fashion, textiles, and their design and manufacture is the only way to achieve true sustainability in the fashion industry. To this end, it critically examines Western discourse on sustainability and sustainable fashion, as these have not delivered the expected results. The chapters in this book go beyond the debate on the technical aspects of sustainability in fashion and assert that it cannot be achieved without dismantling systems of white supremacy and racial injustice.
