A year after the first outbreaks, the world has become a wasteland of rotting flesh and shattered dreams. In the ruins of civilization, small groups of survivors cling to life, battling not only the undead but their own despair. When a brutal horde overruns their camp, a ragtag band led by the hardened survivor Brett is forced to flee into the wilderness. They fight tooth and nail through waves of zombies, the ground slick with blood and the air thick with decay, until they find refuge in an abandoned factory. But safety is an illusion. Tensions rise as food dwindles and the group fractures under pressure. Brett struggles to keep them united, haunted by the memory of losing his family to the infection.
Desperation drives them back into the open, scavenging through corpse-strewn streets for supplies. Every step is a gamble with death, each alley a potential trap. When Brett discovers a radio transmission promising sanctuary in a fortified city, hope flickers anew. But reaching it means crossing miles of infested territory. As they set out, an ambush by another band of survivors leaves them reeling. Betrayed and outnumbered, Brett watches helplessly as zombies swarm the attackers, tearing flesh from bone in a gory frenzy. His group escapes, but not without losing more of their own.
The relentless march toward the city becomes a nightmare of violence and loss. One by one, Brett's companions fall, victims of the undead or the brutal world they now inhabit. When they finally glimpse the city walls, their numbers are decimated. The promise of safety seems within reach, but a massive horde stands between them and salvation. Brett leads a desperate charge through the chaos, determined to survive no matter the cost. Blood and screams fill the air as they cut a path through the writhing mass. Just as hope seems lost, a military convoy barrels through, mowing down zombies in a hail of gunfire.
Brett and the few remaining survivors make it to the city, battered and broken but alive. Inside, they find a semblance of order and protection. However, the cost of survival is steep; the city is a harsh regime, its leaders willing to sacrifice anything and anyone to keep the undead at bay. Brett faces a grim choice: submit to their rule or risk everything by leaving. Haunted by the past and unwilling to lose more, he chooses to stay, but the decision weighs heavily on him.
In the end, Brett and his group are alive, but the world outside remains a sea of death. The city offers them a fragile peace, yet the true horror lies in the realization that this new life demands a different kind of sacrifice. Surrounded by walls and the ever-present threat of the undead, they learn that survival means more than just escaping the zombies-it means confronting the brutal reality of a world forever changed.
