Sunshine, Hurricanes, and Other Things that Have a Heart is Susan Lynn Zenker's second collection of stories for teens.

Her featured story is called The Gill Net. In it, nature-lover and photographer Lynn Orion has had enough. It's one thing when DJ decides to fish in a prohibited area. It's a totally different matter when he catches a baby seal. She orders her dorky friend to fix what he has done. But a gill net is illegal. And Lynn, too, has tried her hand at throwing it into the sea. Will she have the courage to turn DJ in to the park rangers? Or has she unwittingly been an accomplice in his animal cruelty?

This story along with seventeen others will make you sigh, weep, and gasp. With something for every reader - from contemporary fiction to romance, thriller, fable, sci-fi, and ghost story - you'll find lovable and detestable teen characters in unique tales with twisted endings sure to satisfy.

You'll experience a wide range of situations and conflicts as the author tackles the themes of the environment, broken families, self-esteem, revenge, loss, growth, violence, and falling in love. Some of the stories in this collection are: The Plan, Found, The Comeback, Milestones and Loyalties, Private Party, Stamp of Disapproval, and Bundles of Joy. A few stories contain strong language and mature content and are marked accordingly.

The suggested age range for readers of this book is 15 to 18+ and the suggested grade level is 9th to 12th+.

Yet, remember, more adults are reading YA now than ever before.
