The Sulcata tortoise (Centrochelys sulcata), also known as the African spurred tortoise, is one of the largest species of tortoise in the world and the largest mainland tortoise species overall. Native to the southern edge of the Sahara Desert in Africa, their range spans several countries, including Chad, Sudan, Mali, Niger, and Ethiopia.
