Suggestions On Academical Organization: With Especial Reference To Oxford is a book written by Mark Pattison and originally published in 1868. The book is a detailed examination of the structure and organization of academic institutions, with a particular focus on the University of Oxford. In the book, Pattison provides a critical analysis of the existing academic system and offers suggestions for its improvement. He discusses issues such as the role of professors, the importance of research, and the need for more flexible and adaptable curricula. Pattison also examines the history and traditions of Oxford University, and argues that these should be preserved and celebrated while also embracing modernization and progress. He advocates for a more democratic and inclusive academic community, with greater opportunities for women and working-class students. Overall, Suggestions On Academical Organization is a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the challenges facing academic institutions in the 19th century, and remains relevant to contemporary debates about the role and purpose of higher education. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
