Suggestions For A Scheme Of Old Age Pensions is a book written by Lionel Raleigh Holland, first published in 1899. The book is a proposal for a system of old age pensions, aimed at helping elderly citizens who are unable to support themselves financially. The author begins with an introductory chapter that discusses the report of the Committee on Old Age Pensions, which was published in 1898.The book includes a detailed analysis of the current state of pension systems in various countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States. The author also provides a historical overview of the development of pensions, tracing their origins back to the Roman Empire.Holland's proposal for a pension system is based on the idea of a flat-rate pension, which would be available to all elderly citizens regardless of their income or social status. He argues that this would be a fair and effective way of providing financial support to those who need it most. The book also includes a discussion of the practicalities of implementing such a system, including the costs involved and the administrative challenges that would need to be overcome. Overall, Suggestions For A Scheme Of Old Age Pensions is a thought-provoking and informative read for anyone interested in the history and future of pension systems. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
