Excerpt: ... Notes. 11:1-47. Clean and unclean animals. There are two marks of difference between the clean and the unclean animals used in sacrifices and for food. The cloven-hoof marks the slow moving, tame animal, easily domesticated. The single-hoofed animal is wild and difficult of domestication.
