The Story of My Life is an autobiography written by Helen Keller, an American author, lecturer, and political activist who was deafblind. The book chronicles her life from childhood to adulthood, detailing her struggles and triumphs in overcoming the challenges of being both deaf and blind. Keller was born in Alabama in 1880 and lost her vision and hearing at the age of 19 months due to an illness. Despite her disabilities, she learned to communicate through the guidance of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, and went on to become a renowned writer and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. The Story of My Life is a powerful testament to Keller's determination and resilience, as well as a fascinating glimpse into the world of someone who experienced it without sight or sound. The book has been widely read and translated into many languages, and remains a classic of American literature.1911. With Helen Keller's letters of 1887-1901 and a supplementary account of her education, including passages from the reports and letters of her teacher, Anne Mansfield Sullivan. This book is divided into three parts. The first two, Helen Keller's story and the extracts from her letters, form a complete account of her life as far as she can give it. She cannot explain much of her education, and since a knowledge of that is necessary to an understanding of what she has written, her autobiography is supplemented with the reports and letters of her teacher, thus the third part of this book.
