When a powerful thunderstorm reaches Fire Station 8, the lights suddenly go out-and Alex has a brand-new mission.
With his loyal golden retriever Ember beside him and Captain Mira's calm crew leading the way, six-year-old Alex learns what to do during a storm and power outage. He discovers why weather warnings matter, why flashlights are safer than candles, what belongs in an emergency kit, and why children must stay far away from generators and fallen power lines.
Most importantly, Alex learns that being brave does not mean never feeling worried. It means staying with a trusted grown-up, remaining calm and following a safe plan.
This reassuring illustrated adventure includes:
- Five easy Storm-Smart safety steps
- A child-friendly safety quiz
- An emergency-kit activity
- A family power-outage planning page
- A Storm-Smart Explorer Badge
Created for children ages 3-8, The Stormy Night is ideal for family reading, classrooms, early readers and conversations about storms, darkness and emergency preparedness.
Join Alex and Ember for another warm, practical adventure where curiosity, teamwork and calm thinking help make the world a little safer.
