State of the Union: A Comedy is a play written by Howard Lindsay. The story revolves around a wealthy couple, Kay and Grant Matthews, who are on the verge of divorce due to their differences in political opinions. Kay is a staunch Republican, while Grant is a Democrat. However, they decide to put their differences aside and work towards a common goal - Grant's presidential campaign. The couple embarks on a cross-country trip to drum up support for Grant, but their journey is fraught with challenges and comedic mishaps. Along the way, they meet a variety of characters, including a group of reporters, a farmer, and a waitress, who all have their own opinions on politics. As the couple navigates their way through the campaign trail, they must confront their own prejudices and beliefs, and ultimately decide whether their marriage is worth saving. State of the Union: A Comedy is a witty and insightful commentary on American politics and the complexities of relationships. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
