Before he became one of Christmas's most beloved figures, Saint Nicholas was a pastor who shared God's love through quiet acts of compassion. Journey into the story that helped inspire centuries of Christmas traditions.
On a chilly night in the ancient seaside village of Myra, a caring pastor named Nicholas learns that a poor father cannot provide for his three daughters. Moved by compassion and guided by his faith in Jesus, Nicholas quietly devises a plan. Under the cover of darkness, he secretly delivers bags of gold to the family's home, changing their lives forever.
Through this heartwarming hardcover Christmas picture book, families can:
- Discover the true story behind Saint Nicholas and the Christian roots of Christmas gift-giving
- Help children understand how faith inspires generosity and kindness
- Connect beloved Christmas traditions to the ultimate gift of Jesus Christ
- Spark meaningful conversations about compassion, charity, and caring for others
- Explore the history of St. Nicholas Day and the real person behind centuries of Christmas celebrations
Inspired by the true story of the fourth-century Bishop of Myra, Saint Nicholas brings to life the Christian figure whose anonymous acts of generosity helped shape many of today's Christmas customs. With engaging storytelling and beautiful illustrations by Chris Ellison, young readers will encounter a pastor who shared Christ's love through both his words and his actions.
The book also includes a special Dear Grown-up section with historical background about the real Saint Nicholas, information about St. Nicholas Day observances, and a glossary that helps families continue learning together.
Perfect for Christmas, Advent, and St. Nicholas Day, Saint Nicholas is a warm, faith-filled read-aloud that introduces children to the Christian origins of a beloved holiday tradition while reminding them that Jesus is the greatest gift of all.
