Author Theresa Marie Vallotton is the grandmother of our main character. She closely observed this wonderful season of Quinn's play. He gave her lots of material for an unexpected telling of his story. Though written for young children, all ages will enjoy this beautiful book. It's not a blanket, a toy or a teddy bear this little boy latches onto, it's a spoon he calls Poon. With a child's imaginative genius, sparked by an industrious nature, Quinn discovers all the wonderful things a spoon can do. Poon becomes an extension of his hand, an enhancer of his own power and his constant companion. With experimentation he learns what works and what does not. With playful interaction and a little mischief, this book is sure to bring laughter and delight. Quinn finds the help he needs when in a moment of crisis, he literally has more than he can handle. He learns that more is not always better. A child will count with you and ponder the power of one spoon. Two sisters have brought this story to life. Illustrators Janet Young and Sara Ferguson spent their childhoods drawing across the kitchen table from one another, passing pencils back and forth, collaborating from birth. It is their greatest joy. Janet is now a professional graphic designer, illustrator and portrait painter. Sara is a fine artist and illustrator who draws and paints as time permits during breaks from her career in construction. With vibrant and colorful illustrations, told with infectious and whimsical rhyme, this story of adventure and discovery comes to life. It jumps off the pages with A Spoon Called Poon!
