The Spoilers is a novel written by Rex E. Beach in 1906. The story is set in Nome, Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 19th century. The main character is a man named Roy Glennister, who is a successful miner and businessman in the area. He is in love with Helen Chester, the daughter of a judge who is trying to clean up the corrupt town. However, their relationship is complicated by the arrival of a new player in town, a wealthy businessman named Alex McNamara, who is determined to take over the mining industry and eliminate his competition. McNamara uses his money and power to bribe officials and intimidate his rivals, leading to a series of violent confrontations between Glennister and his allies and McNamara and his henchmen. The novel explores themes of greed, corruption, and justice, as well as the harsh realities of life in the frontier. The Spoilers was a bestseller when it was first published and has been adapted into several films and stage productions.1905.
