A 46 day sampling of short writings from my encounters with God based in my experiences and study and over 50 years of following Him on the path of love inside and outside of the Christian tradition. These are some pearls I have found in the pages of the Jewish and Christian scriptures which admittedly do have a Christian perspective. But they are far from the tow-the-line, traditional views and readings of scripture. I tend to find God outside the walls of the Christian Church even more often than I find Him in it. I have found Him (or Her, or It, or We as He calls himself in Jewish Scripture) just as often in the woods, or alone, soaking to music on my couch, or among the unchurched people I meet, especially those who are suffering. And I hear God when I am there to hear their complaints and tend to their immediate physical, monetary, and psychological needs. Or sometimes, when I am just there among them, suffering from my own deep wounds and needs - and they minister to me. I went to Seminary for a few years and served as a Chaplain for several years. And I learned, from my much older, wiser, Chaplaincy teacher and friend, that my job as a Chaplain or Counselor was usually to just shut my mouth and listen to others - and listen to God speaking though them. In all the pain and in the horrific things people suffer through in this world. And in their triumphs and their experiences with something greater than themselves. The entries in this book are rooted in those experiences and adapted from my posts on my former blog, SpiritGivesBirthToSpirit.
