ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
The Cannibal Tenderness is an excellent short story collection marked by a finely achieved sarcastic subtlety; the narrative gaze is extremely precise, and the voice is intense and raw, without concessions. --José MarÃa Merino
The protagonists of these stories only find satisfaction when they impose themselves on others or when they carve out a small domain of supremacy at the expense of their lovers, their friends, or their own sanity. With biting irony, Enrique Serna scrutinizes the tumors of the soul, revealing the secret intentions we all try to hide in our cold war with others: the struggle for power in romantic relationships, the forward escape of solitary resentment, the impossibility of reconciling hedonistic individualism with loving surrender, the cruel mirages of vanity, and the small and large betrayals that undermine married life until it becomes a minefield.
