El sà de las niñas (The Maidens' Consent) is a comedy in two acts by Spanish playwright Leandro Fernández de MoratÃn. Written in prose, the play critiques arranged marriages and the societal pressures placed upon young women in 18th-century Spain.
Set in an inn, the story revolves around Doña Francisca, a young woman betrothed to Don Diego, a man much older than herself. However, she is secretly in love with Don Carlos, Don Diego's nephew. The play explores themes of love, freedom, and the importance of individual choice in marriage.
