Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda, es el supuesto autor del Quijote apócrifo (titulado Segundo tomo del Ingenioso Hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha) y publicado en Tarragona en 1614.
Ha habido múltiples conjeturas y teorÃas sobre la verdadera identidad de Fernández de Avellaneda. MartÃn de Riquer sugirió que se trataba de Jerónimo de Pasamonte, soldado y escritor contemporáneo de Miguel de Cervantes que combatió en Lepanto, como él, y autor de una Vida, que no llegó a ser impresa.
Otra hipótesis afirma que se trata de Cristóbal Suárez de Figueroa. Figueroa se desplazó a Barcelona en un intento desesperado de embarcarse con el séquito del conde de Lemos pero no consiguió ser tenido en cuenta. Ofendido por las intrigas de Cervantes incluyó en su libro España defendida unas durÃsimas estrofas contra este. Cervantes, a su vez, lo satirizó en el episodio de la imprenta de Barcelona, aludiendo a cierto traductor del italiano.
