English Description
RICANS does not glorify heroic figures or recite grand national epics. Instead, it gives voice to imagined experiences of Puerto Ricans who migrated to the United States in search of a better life.
Through short stories, literary sketches, and scenes born from observation, this collection constructs possible narratives inspired by what is seen, heard, and sensed in the streets, the neighborhoods, and the shared memory of diaspora.
Edwin Alverio, a Puerto Rican writer and artist based in the United States, offers in RICANS an intimate -yet respectful- literary gaze into the Boricua diaspora. The book explores themes such as identity, uprootedness, cultural resistance, discrimination, and the challenge of being Latino between two worlds.
Intended for mature audiences, this work invites readers to imagine what happens behind closed doors, where fiction and emotional truth elevate the echo of migration.
