Leonid Nikoláievich Andreiev (1871-1919) fue un escritor y dramaturgo ruso que lideró el movimiento del Expresionismo en la literatura de su paÃs. Idealista y rebelde, Andreiev pasó sus últimos años en la pobreza, y su muerte prematura por una enfermedad cardÃaca pudo haber sido favorecida por su angustia a causa de los resultados de la Revolución Bolchevique. A diferencia de su amigo Máximo Gorky, Andreiev no consiguió adaptarse al nuevo orden polÃtico.
